Coverage, sources and limits

This directory combines Annex 25-B of the new EU-Mexico agreement with the annexes to the existing spirits agreement. It covers food, drink and other agricultural products, not every geographical indication worldwide.

The new agreement is not yet in force according to the sources checked on 8 September 2026. “Existing agreement” refers to the spirits agreement, not permission to use the name.

Name-specific conditions appear with each entry. General rules, trademarks and other protection may also apply. A name missing from this list is not necessarily free to use.

Check that your product and producer qualify to use the name. Then check classification, origin, labelling and health requirements separately.

Shared names appear under each relevant country but count once in the total. Official name variants are not counted as separate products. Scotch Whisky is outside the EU-Mexico totals and follows a separate agreement.
